Was your home or property in Altadena or the Palisades affected by the fires?
CAER has funding from FireAid and
Greater Good to support grant-funded full service soil remediation for eligible homes in Altadena and the Palisades.
Come to our info session on March 13th hosted by CORE at The Hub in Altadena
or livestreamed.
Bioremediation is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for soil contamination, using plants and fungi to remove pollutants from your soil.
We will take care of the bioremediation from beginning to end, including:
more detailed soil testing before, during and after remediation
Design & installation of bioremediation tailored to your site.
Monitoring, and removal of plants at the end, when contaminant levels have been reduced below safety threshold levels.
During the process - you will not have access to the areas being remediated. They will look like a native plant garden, and we will visit occasionally to perform additional tests and monitoring, and care for the plants.
Eligibility Requirements
Structure burned down OR still standing
Soil Test Results show contamination about safe regulatory levels for at least one contaminant (i.e. lead (Pb) above 80 ppm).
Water Access - water connection is on, or can be turned on at the site by April.
Ask your DCM for guidance on how to turn water back on.
Have at least one year time frame for completion of remediation
We can work alongside construction/rebuilding.
Program Priorities
In order to make the most meaningful impact with resources available for this program, we are prioritizing applicants who:
Will be moving back into homes soonest or are already living on site
Have young children or are expecting newborns
Underinsured, or uninsured for soil remediation
However, dependent on applicant numbers and funding availability, we may be able to offer additional services. Please apply with your DCM or Resource Navigation provider at the link below and we can add you to our list.
